Happy New Year

I know you must think I am crazy if I think it is the New Year but hear me out before you pass judgement! Since I can remember Labor Day always seemed to spark a new sense of commitment and energy with me and around me. Maybe I have felt this way for a long time because of my love for football. Or maybe it is because my wedding anniversary is usually on Labor Day Na, it has to be more than that and I believe that it is, but first let me just take a few moments and share with you what I experienced this past Labor Day!

Over the weekend I had the privilege of going back stage to meet the College Game Day. They were in town at Cowboys Stadium for the LSU vs. Oregon game. Oh, and I have to mention guys, I got to hang out with Erin Andrews!

Let me tell you it was an experience I will always remember! Everyone was so cool and friendly to us, and believe it or not, not a single LSU fan said anything to me about being decked out in my Gator gear!

So, how does this have anything to do with a new sense of energy and commitment. Well, if we look at the calendar we have roughly 16 weeks till the end of the year. For many of us  summer is all about sitting around, swimming in the pool, and pretty much being lazy all day!

Then, Labor Day comes around and school is back in session and people start to realize that they have either done nothing to reach their goals for the past 9 months or the summer wiped out all the hard work.

Suddenly, there is a new sense of urgency to do something. Plus, how can you not get excited and pumped up about the fall season. Even if your not a football fan, Fall brings about change and makes people feel good.

With that being said what should you do about this new sense of energy and commitment? If you haven’t figured it out yet I want you to take action. The first thing  you need to do is implement a 90 day plan. Go here to read how you can set up a plan of attack to reach your goals in 90 days!

A XXX Fitness Workout That Will Make Your Knees Weak

Sorry to disappoint but it is not the XXX you are thinking and no, I am not talking about pole dancing classes either! What I am talking about is over the weekend I had the privilege to attend a workshop and be trained as an instructor on the Trixter X bike.

Now, those of you that know me know how much I love to teach indoor cycle. Well, let me tell you, the X bike and the workouts that come along with the training are awesome. It has been a long time since I had such a great workout cycling indoors and I absolutely LOVED working out on the X bike. My quads were on fire and I was dripping with sweat after 30 minutes. If you are a little crazy like me you just love it when you get off totally spent.

Okay, so what I find so unique and different about the X bike is the fact the workout is much more engaging. The X bike is different from other bikes on the market in several ways. First, the X bike does not have a fixed fly wheel. It is set up like a normal bike and the gear shifter adds resistance. Let’s just say you can’t cheat on this bike and after 30 minutes your quads are on fire. Another great aspect that differentiates this bike from others is the fact the handle bars moved from left to right and allow you to engage your core and upper body. The finally aspect is the programming is really unique.

Now, not only is the workout more engaging but the programming is unique. There are three levels starting with the 30 minute X program and working up to the hour long XXX advanced program. I can tell you after experiencing all three programs that each one is unique, different and challenging, which gives beginners to advanced cyclists a great workout.

The final thing that I loved so much about the Trixter X bike is the VRX biking program. If you are a club owner or fitness program director you have got to check this out. The VRX biking is like a virtual ride outdoors. Not only is it a unique and something that differentiates your club and group exercise programming, but it serves another purpose as well. Instead of seeing your cycle room sit empty and only used when you have a class the VRX biking allows you to have the virtual trainer taking members through a routine whenever you want to have the video running. This helps maximum revenue and expense per square foot. Also, as you well know, more and more of the virtual fitness training is where the industry is moving and the VRX biking is a great way to integrate that into your club.

So in conclusion, all I can say is you have to at least try the X bike and see for yourself what I am talking about. If you are an owner or fitness manager and want to learn more about the Trixter bikes feel free to contact me or an independent dealer for more info.

To your success,

Coach Dave

We Must Protect This House

This past weekend I had the privilege of going to the UF vs. USC game. It was a present from my wife for our nine year wedding anniversary. What a lucky guy I am? Now, most of you know the Gators pulled out another victory and they are three wins away from reaching their goal of repeating as National Champions, but I have a bigger story to tell about the weekend and it centers around Veterans Day.

You see the trip that we took would not have been possible if it wasn’t for our brave men and women who protect this country. Last week was Veterans Day and what I did not know before I got to the game was that we were going to be able to meet the founder of Under Armour, Kevin Plank. Under Armour just happens to be the official sponsor for the South Carolina Gamecocks and for this Veterans Day weekend UA teamed up with the Wounded Warriors Project ( http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/) to raise awareness for these soldiers who have been severely wounded in battle and need additional medical treatment and resources due to the nature of their injuries. It was truely amazing to meet some of these men and women who served out country and even despite their injuries their positive attitudes are to be envious of. It really made me be thankful for the life I have and to be thankful for those that give us that opportunity to go sit and scream at a football game. If for some reason you are feeling sorry for yourself or down about this economy go to the Wounded Warrior website and read some of the stories that these young men and women have endured and their attitudes on their future. Until next time keep looking up because life is short and you need to be thankful for everything you have!
