Do you know what your Financial IQ is?

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! I mentioned last week that I was going to start a new weekly post that talks about financial intelligence, so this week I have a simple question for you, but before I get to that let me answer a question I received from a reader on financial intelligence. Dave, “Why should I care about financial intelligence? I come in do my job get paid and make a decent living!” Making a great living is great and most of you probably are more interested in reading something else or more interested in seeing what your friends are doing on Facebook. That is fine but I have decided that my intent for this blog going forward is to help people create a life that allows financial freedom. For some of you having a good paying job is all you are gong to what out of life, but for a few of you I know you want to create a life that allows you to live your dreams and have the freedom to do what you want. So, with that being said, if you aspire to have financial freedom then these weekly posts are going to be helpful for you!

Okay, moving on to the topic today, Financial IQ. What is your Financal IQ? Don’t worry I had no idea what mine was until I started reading and studying Robert Kiyosaki. In his books he lays it out in a simple way, so I thought that instead of me trying to explain why don’t I let him explain it to you. Check out this link and read the short post. Once you have done that you will have a better idea of what the heck I am talking about when I say Financial IQ. If you are anything like I was when I first read it I was shocked at what I thought I knew and what I thought were assets.

Let me know what your Financial IQ is by posting your comments.

Until next week,
In health and wealth

Are You Managing the Game?

Last weekend the Florida Gators beat LSU in what most people are calling an ugly win for the University of Florida. According to most of the pundits and my friends the game was boring to watch and the common phrase I heard was all Florida di was manage the game. Here is the point I want to make, regardless of how exciting or flashy the Gators were on Sat night they won the game and in the end accomplished their goal. As for managing the game that is the key to success in business and life. Reflecting back on my life and career I would have to say that I have  “managed the game” because the success I have had has come from being conservative with calculated risk. I am no flashy celebrity trainer like Bob and Gillian from the “Biggest Loser” but I am a disciplined hard worker that has managed to be successful in business in life. Okay, so here is what you need to do to manage your “game” or carreer as a fitness professional.

I. Understand that your life and career is a journey, not a race! Steady, daily improvement will add up to numerous success stories and accomplishments throughout your career

II. Continue learning! I have said this so many times I am beating it to death but in order to manage the game properly you need to keep improving your skills and learning new ones. Times are changing and you need to be poised to capitalize on new technologies and new information.

III. Build trust! If you are going to be a leader or person off influence, which every fitness professional is, then you need to have those people that follow you have trust in what you say and do!

IV. Learn to adapt! You need to be like a chameleon. Adapt to your current surroundings. If the economy is sagging you need to figure out how to adapt to lower consumer spending. Learning to adapt to your surroundings is one of the biggest keys to managing your career.

These four tips are just a few ways that you can manage your career and life. Remember, there will be times that day to day activities seem boring but the steady, conservative, calculated risk approach will get you the success you deserve and want. On a final note, I can tell you that if the Florida Gators win the rest of their games by being boring and “managing the game” I know that I will be extremely happy Gator fan with another National Championship to our trophy case.

I love Back to School

Today was the first day of school for us here in Texas! I always loved the first day of school. For me I always felt like I had another shot at doing better and making better grades. Unfortunately, I seemed to always care more about sports and friends. Well, I guess I do not feel that bad for me because I had some great times and would not change it for the world. I do however, wished I would have spent more time learning back then. The funny thing is I did not start really studying until after college. Okay, I am sure you are wondering what am I getting at so I will get to my quick point today.

Today is the first day of school and for the most part kids are starting over and have the opportunity to make things right for the year but for you and me we do not have to wait until the next school year to make things right. Each day we can approach our career and day as a brand new start. If there is something you want to get better at then set a goal to become better. if you want to change a bad habit that start practicing the discipline you need to break it. Don’t wait until next year to get better and start fresh. Start today and live the life you have always wanted to live.
