What Could Your Life Be Like 5 Years From Now?

I was inspired to write this post because today, June 29 th 2012 is the iPhone’s 5 year anniversary. Now I am not an early adopter so I did not get the iPhone when it first came out, and no I don’t wait in line for things either, but when I purchased my first iPhone I said to myself, “Where have you been all my life! ” I know, maybe a little extreme but I was just shocked at everything the iPhone can do and allows me to do in my business. So, what do you think the iPhone’s impact has been on  the world in the last 5 years?

Happy 5 Year Anniversary iPhone

Some people will tell you it has revolutionized the world and made it smaller and more connected. Others might tell you it has made people less engaged in human interaction and more engaged in themselves and silly games. Regardless of where you stand the past five years of the existence of the iPhone has changed the world and changed Apple as a company. So what am I getting at here? Well, what I want to get across today is that your life can be dramatically different 5 years from now but for that to happen you need to make a choice.

If you want to change the current situation you are in then you have to make the decision today to do that. Although it may be the iPhone’s 5 year birthday the planning for that started over a decade ago. The choices you make and the actions you take today can dramatically change your life 5 years from now. I have said this before and I will say it again it has never been easier to start a business then it is today. Technology and the internet makes it easier than ever. I know a girl who builds Amazon affiliate sites and sells them to people. Her cost to this is her time and she works out of her house. The future is in your hands and if you are wanting to have your life in your hands consider starting an online business. I can’t express in words how thankful I am that I started my online business but it all started with me taking action one day.

So here is what you need to do right now. No, not tomorrow, right now.

1.) Make the decision to start your own business.

2.) Begin with the end in mind. What I mean by that is visualize where do you want to be in 5 years from now. Get specific about it. Don’t just say I want to have a successful business in 5 years, really nail down what it will look like such as, you will employ 10 people, gross $10,000 and have multiple products for sale. The more specific the better.

3.) Build a plan to get there.

4.) Take action everyday that gets you one step closer to your ultimate goal

5.) Never, ever quit!

That is all my friends and I can’t wait to see what the next 5 years brings to you!

Internet Marketing as an Investment

nternet Marketing as an Investment

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to talk to you today about something I find to be a “new” approach to investing and in my opinion is better than the traditional avenues to invest in.

When a certain “social network” went public with its stock, there was a lot of unrest among investors. What was by many people’s estimations, a “sure shot”, quickly got people scrambling in worry that maybe it was anything but.

The company’s stock dropped very noticeably during the first weeks after its IPO.

Most investors don’t like it when that happens. 🙂

What investors like is to make money from their investments. Pure and simple. Most are pleased if they get a 10% return on their money over time.

But, I now some people who would be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with that kind of return.

That’s because they’ve discovered a different way to invest. And:

• It has nothing to do with stocks.

• It has nothing to do with bonds.

• It has nothing to do with mutual funds.

• It has nothing to do with real estate.

• It has nothing to do with CDs or money market accounts.

Instead, it’s all about investing in internet marketing (IM), or what some call IMvesting.

The idea is simple: spend money on internet marketing related assets that give much better returns (100%, 200% or even more).

This has been my approach for the last several years and instead of losing big during the “Great Recession” my returns have been in the green!

9.5 Reasons I am Grateful for

When I first started out on my journey to become an entrepreneuer things were great but there were times when I was unsure and did not know whether or not I should continue down the path of the unknown. One day though I was reading a blog post by Craig Ballaytane, one of the first people who inspired me to create Working Mom Workouts, and in the post he talked about how he would write a thank you journal ever day, so when he started feeling sorry for himself he would look back to this journal and it would change his mindset. That inspired me to start writing down things I was grateful for and today I want to share a few that I believe have been instrumental for my success.

1.)  I am grateful for the unique talents and skills my creator gave me. Each and every one us have our own unique skills and talents that were given to us. Once I began to understand and hone in on my unique skills and talents I started to realize what I was called to do.What are your talents and have you begun to fully use them?

2.) I am grateful for the fact I saw the sun rise this morning and that I am able to get out of bed and conquer the day ahead of me. Every day we are presented with the choice of being great and making a difference in this world or just being part of this world. Are you going to make a difference today?

3.)  My wonderful family and friends. Any entrepreneur will tell you that their ultimate success lies within the support of their family and friends. Sure people can and have succeeded on their own but you need a support system and I can’t thank my family and friends enough for being behind me and having faith in me!

4.)  Mistakes that I make today. It may sound crazy but I am thankful for the mistakes that I know I am going to make each and everyday. I have the best intentions to be more productive, contact more leads, write better blog posts, but no matter how hard I try I am going to make mistakes and I am okay with that because it allows me to get better and grow as an entrepreneur.

5.)  I am also grateful for my flaws. Having areas of weakness helps me to get better and develop my skills, plus it allows me to seek out others that can help me balance my weaknesses.

6.)  My will to become more. Since I was a kid I always wanted to be great and although I believe I may be above average in certain areas I still have a will to become and do more with my life!

7.)  As crazy as this may sound I am grateful for the people who have stabbed me in the back. Whenever I have had situations like this occur I learn who my real friends are and whom I can trust no matter what.

8.)  I am grateful for the problems I encounter daily. Having problems and being able to work through them makes you stronger and develops your skills.

9.)  I am grateful for the people reading this post and following me. Without having people to help educate and teach them what I have learned would leave a void in my life!

9.5) I am grateful for the ability for me to click send.

P.S. I would love to hear what you are grateful for and if you liked this post pleas “Like” it, Google + it and share with your friends!

To your success,

Dave McGarry

How to Start a Successful Internet Business in 7 Steps

It is rare to find someone that you can trust these days when it comes to the latest Internet Marketing product out there but without a doubt Jimmy D Brown is the person who I have invested in time and time again to help me with my online ventures and today’s post is an article he has written that I believe can get you started building an online business today. I hope you enjoy this article on “How to Start a Successful Internet Business in 7 Steps!”

It’s exciting to think about how much money you can make online.

But if you’re new to online marketing, it can also be overwhelming
to try to figure out which business model is right for you.

The solution? Keep it simple.

Just follow these seven surefire steps to online profits…

Step 1: Choose a Market

But don’t just choose any market – instead, choose a HUNGRY market.
That means you’re looking for a market that is actively seeking
paid solutions to their problems.

Here’s how:

o Search marketplaces like Amazon.com and Clickbank.com to see what
types of niches attract eager, proven buyers.

o Use a keyword tool like WordTracker.com or the free Google
Keyword Tool to find out what people are searching for. You can
enter your proposed niche keywords (like “dog training”) to see if
there is a demand, or enter a broad keyword (like “secrets” or “how
to”) to uncover new niches.

o Go to EzineArticles.com and browse the top articles to see which
niches are popular.

Step 2: Get Your Tools In Place

Once you find a niche that spends money, your next step is to
gather your tools. These include:

o A domain name, which you can get at NameCheap.com.
o Hosting, which you can secure at HostGator.com.
o An autoresponder, which you can purchase through Aweber.com.

Step 3: Select an Offer to Promote

Next, you need to find an affiliate offer that you can promote to
your hungry niche. The best way to do that is to find out what
they’re already buying… and choose a similar offer.

Simply go to Clickbank.com and browse the relevant niche category.
Those products appearing at the top of the catalog are your best
sellers – you should choose a product near the top of the list.

Just be sure to buy, read and use the product to ensure that it is,
indeed, a good product.

Step 4: Write and Upload a Mini eCourse

Your next step is to create an autoresponder series around the
topic of your product so that you can promote your offer. Your
autoresponder series should be at least 7-12 messages long.

For example:

You’re selling a copywriting product. You can create a seven-part
ecourse on how to write a sales letter. Then promote the
copywriting product in every message.

You’re selling a diet recipe book. You can create a 10-part weight
loss course that pitches the recipe book in every message.

You’re selling a dog training video. You can create a seven part
course that teaches the basic obedience lessons such as sit, down
and stay. In every message you refer your prospects to the paid
video for more information.

Here’s the key: Do NOT solve your prospect’s problems 100%. You
want to provide useful but incomplete information, so that your
prospects need to purchase your affiliate offer in order to fully
solve their problems.

Step 5: Create a Squeeze page

Next, you need to persuade your prospects to subscribe to your
ecourse. You do this by creating a mini sales page (AKA squeeze
page). This page should include:

o A headline that touts your course’s major benefit (e.g., “FREE:
How to housetrain your puppy in just three easy steps!”).

o A list of the other benefits of your course (e.g., “You’ll
discover the secrets of turning an unruly, rambunctious puppy into
a perfect houseguest!”).

o And a call to action (e.g., “Just enter your name and email
address in the form below now, click join and you’ll get instant
access to this eye-opening report!”).

You may also provide proof of your claims, such as testimonials,
videos, screenshots, pictures and similar evidence.

Step 6: Drive Traffic to the Squeeze Page

Next, you need to drive targeted traffic to your squeeze page so
that you can quickly build your list. You can do this by:

o Starting a blog and posting articles that are optimized for the
search engines.

o Trading links with other high traffic sites in your niche.

o Being a guest blogger on other peoples’ blogs.

o Co-promoting with other marketers in your niche (e.g., endorsing
each other in your newsletters).

o Submitting articles to EzineArticles.com and other article
directories.

o Using social media sites like Squidoo.com, Yahoo! Answers, and
Facebook.com.

o Participating on niche forums on in niche blog discussions.

Step 7: Add Messages to Your Autoresponder Series

Once you’re getting traffic, building your list and making a
profit, you can start adding even more messages to your
autoresponder – anywhere from a couple month’s worth of messages to
a year or more.

That way you’ll make money virtually on autopilot – all you have to
do is build your list and let your autoresponder do all the work!

Summary

Making money online doesn’t have to be complicated, not when you
follow these seven easy steps!

How Being Fired Saved My Life

Yes, as the title says being fired from my job saved my life and this post is going to explain to you exactly why I believe that. You see it has been almost 2 years since that day that I heard the new GM say to me, “We are going to let you go “ I was shocked, pissed, scared and probably every other emotion that we have when it happened. I mean how could this happen to me and what was my life going to be like now that the job and career I had worked hard for was now gone. Little did I know that I was on a new journey that I believe has saved my life and has given me a clear picture as to what my purpose in life is all about. My goal for telling you this story some two years later is if there is someone out there who might be struggling after losing there job don’t lose hope because just maybe you too will be saved and found your true calling.

Now I am not going to go into all the details as to how and why I was fired but I do want to start with maybe a little foreshadowing event that happened when I first graduated from college. I have to admit I was not a big reader in college but soon after I graduated people who had created big companies and appeared to be successful fascinated me. So, one day I was at Barnes and Noble and picked up a book about the guys who started Home Depot. In it I found out that one of the founders of Home Depot was fired from his job. He said it was the best thing that had happened to him; little did I know that would be the case for me too.

So here is why I feel that way:

Probably the single most reason I have come to believe that being fired has saved my life I feel is because I have not spent enough time developing my spirituality. You see, for years I worked on building my career, my health, my wealth and my family, but the one area of my life that was out of balance was my spirituality. Now I had been attending church but wasn’t really growing and maturing in my spirituality. What I came to realize is that I had been going at everything alone and was fighting what my true purpose here on earth is all about. Through reading Scripture and the “Purpose Driven Life” I have a renewed sense of trust in my faith and my savior, Jesus Christ. It is strange how the good Lord works but I now know that me being fired was his way of saying it is time to get closer to me and stop doing things on your own. Understanding and realizing this has brought a sense of calm and peace to my life. I now have a clear picture of what I am called to do and no matter have tough things get I know I am not alone.

Another reason I feel it has saved my life is because I am able to use this as a teaching moment. I know it sounds strange but being fired has given me the opportunity to show my kids that life is going to hit you and knock you down, but the important part is how you react to life’s struggles that matters. Hopefully by me showing them that dad did not quit and had faith throughout will help make them stronger.

My final breakthrough and realization that my life has been changed comes from being an entrepreneur. For starters being an entrepreneur has taken me out of my comfort zone. I no longer have the luxury of having a paycheck delivered to my bank account any more, but making a sale and knowing that a person has trusted in one of my products or services gives me such pride and more personal satisfaction than any paycheck has ever brought me. Also, by being my own boss (Oh, the real boss is my wife J) I have had opportunities to do the things I like and take the chances on projects and ideas I am interested in.

As I wrap up my story I am going to admit to you that finally coming to this understanding has not been easy and I hope you don’t have to go through tough times to find out your true purpose but if you do embrace the struggle and realize that the old cliché “Everything happens for a reason” is true. There is a plan for us and part of that plan is to learn from your struggles.

So, my goal moving forward is to use my blog and this platform to help and encourage others to live the life they always wanted. I will also begin to share more about my struggles and insights as I continue down this path of entrepreneurship. I hope you will join me on the journey.

To your success,

Dave McGarry
